Peter Voulkos

Pete introduced me to Pete Voulkos during our subject talk of repetition, sequence and outcomes. The main interest was based on his plates. But Voulkos’s hand building and aggressive behaviour towards clay attracted me the most. In the video above (that hopefully works) it projects Voulkos creating a sculpture, coiling, slicing, shoving and pushing. All actions taken place are very physical due to scale.
