Artist Who Make Pieces

Due to my difficulty of finding a definition and a field to fit my work into, a friend referred to Ed Ruscha “Artist Who Make “Pieces”” work. It perfectly fits to my work now as  I purely am just making pieces, to further on find the connections that arise. Also refers to the vast field that artists work within, everything we make with a creative mind seems to be art. So I guess this is a further question in my work, the bridge between craftsmanship in ceramics and fine art.

“By referring to a vague category of making, Ruscha appears to mock the desire to pigeonhole artists and define their output. The quotation marks around ‘pieces’ further attest to the slippery nature of definition, isolating and questioning the language of the art world and the danger of it degenerating into meaningless generalisation.”
