After stewarding at the Ken Stradling Collection, I visited Bristol Museum, ending up admiring Do Ho Suh’s installation. Do Ho Suh’s desire is to guard and carry around his own intimate space, making him perceive space as infinitely moveable. He experiences space through movement of displacement, making his work become intrinsically transportable and translatable. I like to think that creating an installation is like creating a space of comfort for the artist as its an environment that they have created and that they are used to. To have work surrounding you rather than directly looking at it in one area has a sense of personal space of the individual and immersive installation.
